Background

After the reported death of Osama bin Laden in May 2011, a quote made the rounds in social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter, attributed to MLK:

I will mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy.

Conclusion

FALSE The line was not from MLK, but was instead the commentary of a Facebook user Jessica Dovey before she quoted the actual MLK words: "Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that."
